In November 2019 I started my internship at swissnex China as Junior Project Manager for Science Outreach and Diplomacy. A World pandemic and countless Zoom webinars later, 8 months have come to an end. Time flies and sadly its time to say goodbye.

Overwhelmed with my assignments at the beginning, I was able to settle in fast. With the team retreat on my second day at swissnex and the New year event after the first couple of weeks, I had a splendid start into my internship. My main tasks were both Science Newsletters, the coordination of the Science Diplomatic Circle Shanghai, and helping to organize some other events. I was grateful for the help of all the collogues that never hesitated to help me or give me some advice. This internship gave me an insight into many fields and topics outside of conventional science and a deep dive into the Startup world. From Space debris removal to mask- tech over Neobanking, I experienced and learned a lot while connecting the dots between China and Switzerland.

During my time I had the chance to learn and experience a lot more about Chinese culture, Chinas geography, and convenience. Despite an ongoing Epidemic that started early this year, I consider the last 8 months as one of the best so far. I made new friends, traveled to new places, tried new food, and gained new life skills in this fast-moving environment. I am extremely thankful for these past 8 months in Shanghai, and for the people I met and was able to share so many good stories and moments.
